This was my first experience with dance film which started on the other side of the camera. Besides getting very cold and wet, I got insight into how different it is to dance for film in comparison to dancing live for an audience. The repetition, the waiting, the dealing with different elements and the need to occasionally adjust movement to suit the environment were all far more of a big deal than I had thought they would be. So even though I wasn’t involved in much of the film-making side of it, it gave me a valuable appreciation for the process and first hand experience of what I could expect from the dancers I would use in future projects.

Filmed on Noordhoek beach, Cape Town.

Videography and editing by Eugene Rabe.
